Basic Computer Training About Hardware Of Computers – PC Hardware – How Many Types Of Computer System Hardware Do We Have?
What is a computer hardware? A lot of us use computers almost every day, but majority of us don’t even know the simple components – hardware of computer. Understanding the very basics of our PC hardware can equally help us in understanding how our “computer system hardware” operates.
A computer hardware or “hardware of computer” is simply a physical part of your computer that executes within the hardware. It is unlike computer software or data that can be frequently changed, modified or completely erased on a computer. A PC Hardware should not be changed frequently.
As you may know, most computer system hardware is embedded and so is not visible to normal computer users. For our basic computer training lesson today, I’ll list bellow all the different types of computer hardware’s that are found in almost every computer.
Central processing Unit (CPU): A CPU is the main component of a digital computer that interprets instructions and process data in computer programs. We have previously discoursed this in one of our basic computer training lessons.
Motherboard: Motherboard is the central or primary circuit board making up a complex electronic system such as a computer. A motherboard is also known as a main board, logic board or system board of a computer or device.
Random Access Memory (RAM): A RAM allows the stored data to be accessed in any given order. RAM is considered as the main memory of your computer system hardware, where the working area is used for displaying and manipulating data on your PC.
Basic Input Output System (BIOS): Normally, BIOS prepares the software programs to load, execute and control every computer.
Video Display Controller: This basically converts the logical representation of visual information into a signal that can be used as input for a display medium on a PC.
Computer Bus: Your “Computer Bus” is used to transfer data or power between computer components inside a computer system hardware or between computers.

Power Supply: Power Supply supplies electrical energy to an output load or group of loads (you should know this very well).CD-ROM drive: It contains data accessible by a computer.
Floppy Disk: Floppy disk is a data storage device used on a computer(it’s one of your PC hardware).
Zip Drive: It is a medium capacity removable disk storage system also used on a computer.
Hard Disk: It is a non-volatile data storage system that stores data on a magnetic surface layered unto hard disk platters.
